The Process

Getting to Know You

Every journey begins with understanding. During intake, time is taken to learn about your child’s strengths, your concerns, and your goals. This ensures support begins with clarity and shared direction.

Comprehensive Assessment

Assessment provides a clear picture of your child’s communication profile. Through a combination of standardised tools, observation, and discussion, strengths and areas for growth are identified to guide meaningful next steps.

Individualised Therapy Plan

Following an assessment, a tailored therapy plan is developed for your child. Goals are practical, functional, and aligned with your child’s daily environments, ensuring support feels purposeful and achievable.

Measuring Progress

Progress is carefully monitored through data collection, outcome measures, and regular review. Adjustments are made as needed to ensure therapy remains responsive, effective, and centred on meaningful growth.

How Support Is Delivered

Individualised, evidence-informed support designed to nurture confident, meaningful communication. Support is provided for children aged 2–15 years, with particular experience in early language development, speech sound difficulties, expressive and receptive language skills (including following directions and oral language), and literacy development (reading and writing).

  • Assessment sessions are typically 90 minutes in duration and are billed at $320. This includes 60 minutes of direct assessment time with your child and 30 minutes of non face-to-face clinical time for scoring, analysis, and preparation of feedback.

In some cases, particularly where more comprehensive information is required, two assessment sessions may be recommended to ensure a thorough understanding of your child’s communication profile.

Verbal feedback is provided where possible on the day of assessment. If a written report is required, this is prepared and billed separately at the hourly rate of $213, reflecting the time required for detailed analysis and documentation.

  • Individual therapy sessions are thoughtfully tailored to your child’s unique communication profile, strengths, and goals. Each session is structured yet engaging, incorporating evidence-informed strategies within developmentally appropriate activities.

Sessions are typically 45 minutes in duration and are billed at the hourly rate of $213, including 45 minutes of face-to-face therapy and 15 minutes of dedicated non face-to-face clinical time. This allows for careful session planning, resource preparation, documentation, and progress monitoring to ensure therapy remains purposeful and responsive.

Goals are reviewed and refined as progress is made, with close collaboration to ensure strategies feel practical and achievable beyond the therapy room.

  • Services are available to participants who are self-managed under the NDIS.

Therapy and assessment sessions are billed at the clinic rate of $213 per hour. This rate exceeds the current NDIS price guide to support sustainable, high-quality, evidence-informed service delivery. As a result, a gap payment applies, and the difference between the NDIS price limit and the clinic rate is payable by the participant.

Invoices are issued directly to families following each session. Participants are responsible for submitting claims to the NDIS for reimbursement under the Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living category.

Clear documentation and reports aligned with NDIS requirements can be provided where needed to support plan reviews and ongoing progress.

  • Support extends into the educational environment to ensure communication goals are reinforced consistently across settings. This may include providing training and guidance for teachers, developing individualised recommendations for classroom support, attending multidisciplinary meetings, and conducting school visits where appropriate. Collaboration focuses on optimising learning supports and increasing understanding of a child’s individual communication profile and needs. Speech and language screenings are also available for kindergarten-aged children to support early identification and timely intervention.

  • Parent training sessions are designed to support you in fostering your child’s communication development within everyday life. Parents are a child’s first and most important teachers, and small, consistent strategies used at home can make a meaningful difference. Practical communication approaches are discussed to strengthen early language skills, optimise interaction, and build confidence. Strategies are designed to feel manageable and naturally embedded within daily routines, ensuring progress continues well beyond the therapy room.

  • The Speech Edit is a registered Medicare provider. Eligibility for Medicare rebates may be discussed with your GP to determine whether your child qualifies for support under a relevant care plan. Medicare claims are not processed on the spot; however, an itemised invoice will be provided to allow for straightforward claiming directly through Medicare.

Some private health insurance providers offer rebates for speech pathology services. Families are encouraged to check with their individual insurer regarding eligibility and level of cover. An itemised invoice will be provided for claims to be submitted directly to your health fund.
